Features
Precise and smooth work with Intelligent Boom Control
Intelligent Boom Control (IBC) is a unique boom control system. It is not an automatically operating extension of the boom or dampened valves, it is an intelligent control system that detects the positioning of the harvester head and adjusts the boom’s trajectories in one easily controlled motion.
IBC is designed to suit the machine’s work cycle. The trajectory and function of the boom automatically adjust as the boom is taken to a tree and when the tree is in the grapple. The operator doesn’t have to move the different sections of the boom individually. The electronic end dampening makes the work process pleasant and smoother, and reduces stress on the entire boom.
IBC improves work ergonomics and guides the operator in the correct use of the boom, which is directly reflected in the increased productivity of the machine. IBC brings significant benefits also in final fellings, as fewer movements are performed.
John Deere harvester heads
John Deere harvester heads are known for their productivity, reliability, and measuring accuracy in particular.
H400 Series
The excellent design and high-quality manufacturing of the four-wheel-drive H400 series harvester heads ensure good performance even in the most challenging jobs. Of the H400 Series harvester heads, the H412 and the H413 are ideal for thinnings. The H414 is a general-purpose harvester head intended for both thinnings and regeneration harvesting. The bigger heads, the H480C and the H415, are best for the big harvesters and for regeneration harvesting. Multi-tree handling is possible with all heads, but the size of the H413 head makes it an excellent match for multi-tree processing.
The most significant features of the H400 Series harvester heads are the efficient four-wheel-drive feeding, the excellent delimbing quality, the outstanding measuring accuracy, and the powerful saw. The grip of the four-wheel head is firm and the geometry of the delimbing blades is good for feeding and delimbing both thin and thick trunks. The latest sensor technology and the TimberMatic control system work together seamlessly to ensure measuring accuracy. The automated saw control is honed to perfection to eliminate cutting damage.
H200 Series
John Deere H200 Series is a two-wheel-drive product family. H200 harvester heads are ideal for processing crooked trees. Of the H200 Series harvester heads, the H270 Series II is ideal for thinnings and regeneration harvesting, and the H290 for regeneration harvesting. The H215E is a special head for processing eucalyptus trees.
The most important attributes of the H200 Series, like the H400 Series, are the efficient feeding, the excellent delimbing, and the outstanding measuring accuracy.
Comfortable cabin
A rotating and leveling or a fixed cabin
Cabin comfort is a productivity factor. The cabin of a John Deere forest machine is a comfortable and ergonomic work environment. The cabin is available as fixed or rotating and levelling version.
The levelling and rotating cabin helps the operator to maintain the correct working posture to prevent stress on the back and shoulder areas. The operator can sit upright even on uneven terrain, and the cabin can be rotated in all directions to face the work area. The cabin has more legroom in front and the seat has two different height settings. The proven and efficient vibration absorption improves the working conditions further. Leveling and rotating functions are an option in harvesters. The cabin is fixed if these options are not chosen.
For meal breaks, the cabins feature a mini oven and refrigerator.
The cabin’s interior materials were chosen with ease of cleaning in mind. The leather-like material on the interior pillars is easy to clean. The neoprene wiper blades are more durable than natural rubber blades.
The ergonomic seat, air conditioning and heating, sun visors and sun blinds, and side widow wipers add to cabin comfort. Plenty of light is needed during dark hours, so the positioning of the lights has been continuously improved to enhance visibility during the autumn and winter.
Control systems and automation
The TimberMatic H control system for John Deere G-Series harvesters includes everything needed for base machine control and monitoring, measuring and bucking in one configurable user interface. The use of just one system makes the operator’s work faster and easier.
Several pressure sensors have been added to TimberMatic H, making it possible to adjust most settings from inside the cabin – and even without tools. The pressure sensors make machine adjustments and condition monitoring easier via the machine’s on-board PC:
- work and transmission pump pressures
- delimbing knives
- feed-roller arms.
Additionally, the new software version enables Remote Display Access (RDA) via Internet (either MTG or other modem). RDA means faster troubleshooting by maintenance people and thus improved uptime for the machine.
The new control modules simplify the electrical system and bring added processing capacity. TimberMatic’s troubleshooting diagnostics have been improved. The new troubleshooting diagnostics of TimberMatic H speed up the fault localization significantly. With the new MECA controllers, it is now possible to see the exact location of the fault in the CAN-bus and the repair is quick and easy.
In the TimberMatic display, an error icon comes up and when clicking the icon, you see the CAN-bus showing the fault location. Moreover, the system shuts the output to the sensor or actuator, if it detects overload or short circuit, and the machine can go on working. This improves the uptime quite considerably.
The double CAN bus increases reliability of the electrical system: simple, fewer connections, a dedicated bus for the engine and the base machine.
The JDLink monitoring system displays information on e.g. machine performance, fuel consumption, engine load and machine location. The MTG data transfer module of the JDLink monitoring system can be equipped with a satellite connection through an additional module and antenna.
Twin-pump system
John Deere 1270G and 1470G harvesters are equipped with an advanced twin-pump hydraulic system. The two open-loop hydraulic pumps operate in tandem to produce the necessary hydraulic power. With the twin-pump system, there is enough power to simultaneously operate the boom and the harvester head. It maximizes boom control, ensures sufficient grip on the trunk, and increases productivity and operating comfort.
The Processing Power Control (PPC) system in the 1270G and 1470G harvesters has three different power levels to choose from so that the most suitable level can be selected for the work based on the size of the trees. The PPC system anticipates the engine load and responds with the right power increase for the situation. The Processing Power Control system improves the fuel economy of the harvester.
